The study of Dr. Nicolas Merle from the Complement and diseases team and his colleagues have demonstrated that in sickle cell disease, the intravascular hemolysis activates the complement system via cell-free heme and heme-loaded microvesicles. This is a collaborative study of 3 teams of CRC.
