I can’t book an instrument with my login. Why?

/////

Only users that attended and validated a CHIC instrument specific practical training have the right to book it on line. Rights are for a given instrument. Contact CHIC staff for training.

/////

Why can’t I be trained by my colleague?

/////

When a CHIC user trains another one some important information may be lost or modified. Only practical trainings performed by CHIC staff ensure an optimal use of instruments. Furthermore, CHIC staff practical trainings are adapted to user needs.

/////

No. We require a login for each user.. Each log is recorded in a file. This file is used every month for billing but also to know the number of CHIC users and their frequency of use for each instrument. On each instrument, it is possible to record an experiment template that can be imported from an account to another.

/////

How is billing established?

/////

Billing minimal unit is half an hour (for hourly billing). Only data acquisition sessions are billed. Login span of time is used for billing. We may use the support of the “cahier d’utilisation” and the online booking tool to double check.

Flow Cytometry: which software should I use to analyze my data?

/////

We propose you to use FlowJo coupled or not to Spice and/or R software.

/////

Flow Cytometry: I always perform the same experiment. Can I compare acquisitions from each other?

/////

Cytometers like any other instruments drift over time. To compare acquisitions made over several days/months requires taking into account drifting. Ask to CHIC staff to set up “application settings” at t0 and we will perform quality control of the instrument before each following acquisition (please inform us just before). Be careful it doesn’t mean that it is not necessary to verify compensations at session.

/////

Cell imaging: how to read again images after acquisition?

/////

Images from the confocal microscope and from the fluorescence microscope (“.lsm” and “.zvi” files) can be read with Fiji or Image J software, both software are free and can be used with a PC or a Mac.
Images from Axio Scan Z1 can be read with Zeiss Zen software on PC only. A free version of the software (Zen lite) can be downloaded from Zeiss website, a free copy is also available from the CHIC. Scanned images can also be imported into the open source QuPath software or into the commercial software Visiopharm (available at CHIC) or HALO.
